Whether you’re a rhythm game veteran, an ARG hunter, or simply someone fascinated by digital ruins, this bizarre, glitchy, passionately flawed build deserves your attention. Just don’t expect a resolution. Dedegaru won’t allow it.
By early 2023, the project had gained a cult following on itch.io and Twitter, primarily through cryptic teasers. However, internal conflicts, feature creep, and the departure of the lead coder led to the project being shelved indefinitely. The final public release before the hiatus? You guessed it: . Deconstructing the Build: v0.5.2 So, what is actually inside v0.5.2 ? Unlike a typical beta, this version is less a vertical slice and more a bleeding artifact. Here’s what players discovered upon downloading the 847 MB package (an unusually large size for a rhythm game, hinting at uncompressed audio and hidden assets). 1. The “Corrupted” Tracklist Version 0.5.2 includes six playable songs, but only three are fully functional. The others—tracks labeled [data_missing] , ghost_hum.ogg , and dedegaru_core.flp —crash the game or enter a debug mode. Dataminers later found that dedegaru_core.flp is actually the original FL Studio project file for the game’s main theme, left in the build by accident. This has led to a thriving community of remixers reconstructing the intended final versions. 2. The “Dedegaru” Signature The suffix -Dedegaru- is not a username. Within the game’s lore, “Dedegaru” is a parasitic code entity—a glitch that speaks in haiku and gradually corrupts the menu over time. In v0.5.2, if you idle on the main menu for exactly 4 minutes and 23 seconds, the background cracks, the title changes to “Dedegaru’s Business,” and a distorted voice whispers a timestamp (10/19/2023 – the date the team disbanded). This Easter egg is the primary reason the -Dedegaru- tag became synonymous with the version. 3. Gameplay Instability as a Feature Unlike polished mods, v0.5.2 is notoriously unstable. Notes frequently phase out of existence. The judgment window shrinks randomly. Some players report that the game deliberately desyncs the audio by 50ms on the final chorus of each song. The developer commentary (still present in the game’s .txt files) confirms this was intentional: “If it’s Unfinished, so is your run. Adapt.” Unfinished Business -v0.5.2- -Dedegaru-
In an era of early access games that are functionally complete, v0.5.2 is a radical statement. It is proudly, defiantly broken. Playing it feels like archaeologically excavating a failed passion project. For many, that raw, unfinished energy is more honest than a polished AAA product. Whether you’re a rhythm game veteran, an ARG
The -Dedegaru- build unintentionally launched an alternate reality game. Hidden in the spectrograms of ghost_hum.ogg are coordinates to a now-deleted Pastebin, which contained ASCII art of a lock and a single line: “The business ends when I say so.” Fans are still debating whether Dedegaru is a fictional character, a disgruntled developer, or a social experiment. By early 2023, the project had gained a
